Pinnatta Raises $1.5M Round

Pinnatta, as their new Facebook Cover Photo captures, just announce that it has raised a $1.5M Series A round. The round, led by Odyssey Venture Partners and PJ Tech Catalyst, brings their total to-date funding to $2.2M. Pinnatta is a mobile platform that allows users to create and send interactive messages with their contacts. Think of Pinnatta as sort-of mobile greeting cards. Their video does a really good job of capturing the essence of the application:

Beyond sending media-rich messages, Pinnatta incorporates interaction, as displayed in the video. Users can blow out virtual candles, or swipe the screen to unfold a message. The process is really quite simple: browse through the ready-made message templates, select the appropriate message, personalize it with text, images, audio, and soon video, and send it.

The Plug and Play Tech Center alum will use the new funding to ramp up expansion. “This round of funding allows us to speed up our growth and continue refining the Pinnatta application, which we believe will help define the future of personal communication,” said George Spanoudakis, Co-Founder and CEO of Pinniatta. The first goal of the new funding is a massive update of the app. The update will consist of an entirely new interface making sending messages easier; new group messaging and recommendation functions; more ready-built customizable interactive messages to the hundreds already available. Further, Pinniatta will launch on Windows Phone and iPad later this year. Here is some more information on Pinnatta’s Blog.
